The Hard Shell Tacos Takes Down The House!

by Shea Suzer

As you may know, I have been running back and forth through South Florida taste testing burritos. The burritos I have found have really been grand, but it is now time for me to switch gears to tacos! In my last visit, I tried the mediterranean taco. The bar just continues to be set higher and higher by South Florida! The pork mediterranean taco is a prime example of this fact. No matter how much I attempt to look back in my memory, I can't think of a better tasting taco. Wellington, Florida and the rest of South Florida know something other establishments don't!

It was off to a fantastic start when I saw them lay out three soft flour tortillas. The dough looked absolutely incredible and my mouth was already watering. I was glad that it looked as if I was not going to leave hungry!

When passing over to the meat section, the nice gentleman working informed me that the mediterranean was a vegetarian selection, but meat could be added at no extra charge. I decided to go with the vegetarian. Many of my friends have made this decision, and they did not regret it.

The next step was a rare black bean hummus. This is where the protein was for the vegetarians! And wow was it incredible. I've never seen anything quite like it!

The next item they added to each individual tortilla was diced tomatoes. They informed me that these tomatoes were grown and bought locally! In favor of local farming and of South Florida restaurants, I was not surprised to see that these tomatoes were fresh and fit for a king!

When I got to the cheeses, my eyes widened. Cheese is probably one of my favorite delicacies ever, and I was overwhelmed with choices. When I asked what they suggested for the mediterranean, the employees all recommended parmesan. They really knew what they were talking about!

After the cheese was added on, this taco needed something else. Cucumbers! The crisp, fresh cucumbers I experience were absolutely delicious. I can't think of a better ingredient to add on!

Finally, my tacos looked quite palatable. However, there was one very important step left. The sauce. For the mediterranean, they lathered a well-seasoned balsamic vinaigrette!

I should have suspected that only Florida restaurants could have given me something like the steak mediterranean taco. I am continually enthralled by their great taste in everything right down to taco recipe. I may never leave Jupiter, Florida!
